H Wail films pilot for TV show American Band-Land

Written by Sims Delaney-Potthoff
Yesterday Harmonious Wail had the good fortune to be picked as one of a half dozen Madison WI bands to be filmed as part of a pilot for a new TV show called American Band-Land.  The idea is for the TV crew to travel to selected cities (cool cities - like Madison WI) and film a handful of "cool" bands at rehearsals or just jamming and then have the viewing audience vote on their choice of "coolest".  We had a gas with the guys and the filming - and we caught a bit of it on our handy zoom camera…

new Wail News for June -- HW wins 4 MAMA awards!

Written by Sims Delaney-Potthoff
The Madison Area Music Association awards ceremony is held every June and raises money to get instruments in to the school system.  Our buddy, MAMA director and founder Rick Tvedt has been working the MAMAs for more than a decade and has done almighty work - we are proud to help get school kids into music and give them a chance at artistic self expression.  It is also the highest of honors to be chosen by a jury of our peers.    So the first awards go to the schools who will benefit from The MAMA's fine work - secondly…

Midwest Gypsy Swing Fest Update

Written by Sims Delaney-Potthoff
Hello Wail friends and Midwest Gypsy Swing Fest Fans, New news in Wail world.  We have made a deal with Arts Wisconsin.   We can now accept donations and grants from public agencies, corporations, foundations and individuals, and provide tax-exempt status, on behalf of Wisconsin arts.  This includes both the MGSF and H Wail.  In our ongoing pursuit of opportunities to get the music to the ears of our fans - and hopefully gain new friends - the Wail is always ready to accept financial help for any of the Wail projects.  And as stated earlier, the Festival could not be…

Written by Sims Delaney-Potthoff
Hello Midwest Gypsy Swing Fest friends, fans, sponsors and supporters, One more time I want you all to know how thankful I am for your support, sponsorship, attendance, enthusiasm, and love of the Midwest Gypsy Swing Fest and Harmonious Wail.  Really, we couldn’t / wouldn’t be here with out you. It is becoming clear to me that the new music business model is coming closer to home, more DIY (do-it-yourself) and much more immediate.  Musicians, bands and music festivals are becoming much more involved directly with their fans.  As I am writing for grants and corporate sponsors (I do have…
